Fertilization

Fertilization is the opposite of meiosis: its the joining of two gamets (the egg and the sperm).

So suppose we have the following 2 gamets:

• A
  X
• A'
  Y

Then after fertilization we have again a diploid bird (a hen in this case):
A A'
X Y
